We acknowledge that we are not the first people to exist on these lands and thank the Native Peoples for our use.
While acknowledgement is not enough, it is part of the process to decolonize this country and remember the rich cultures and histories of the indigenous peoples.
The work of Grey Sun Press occurs while occupying the ancestral homelands of the Coastal Salish Peoples, on the lands of the lower sqaǰətabš (Skagit), dxʷlilap (Tulalip), swədəbš (Swinomish), sduhubš (Snohomish), stuləkʷabš (Stillaguamish), and suq̓ ʷabš (Suquamish).
We respect the indigenous peoples’ sovereignty and their rights to the land. We give our respect and gratitude to them for their care and protection of the land we currently occupy and share through the Treaty of Point Elliott, which was signed by 82 tribes in Múckl-te-óh (Mukilteo) on January 22, 1855.
We also thank this planet, this pale blue dot, for providing for us for so long.
